Rain out!!

Yay!  We had the luxury of an evening rainstorm, and Lance is home with us tonight!  That is why I am writing early -- I have a babysitter :)  It's been a great day.  This morning, we woke up and ate at a local "grease spoon diner" called "Charlie's Cafe".  Saturday might not have been the best day to try as it got crowded, but we beat the crowd and headed on to walk Rookie around downtown "Ghent".  The area we live in, "Ghent", is very diverse.  We straddle both the very neat, historic area of Ghent itself and the rougher area of downtown.  Where we walked this morning, there is a few blocks of fun restaurants, cafes, and theater buildings.  Rookie loved it, and it was perfect weather for us.  The air was warm and moist, just before the rain.

After that, we went to the YMCA.  LJ was not as fond of childcare today, so after 30 minutes, we pulled him out and went to the pool.  He swam for so long.  He swam over ten feet repeatedly, and did all his drills from his class.  It was so much fun!  We are planning on doing it again Monday.  I am going to keep trying the childcare thing, so we have to pair something fun like that, too.  I don't want it to be miserable for him.  He is making strides, though -- he stopped crying after one minute today.  He just wasn't thrilled to be there.  Basketball and swimming make it worth his while.  Oh, and the graham crackers!  They say he eats six or seven every time he's there.  :)

After that, we came home, made some sandwiches and played until Lance had to leave.  LJ napped SO well, ( swimming wears him out), and before we knew it, Lance was back home to play!  We went to the grocery store, got some more necessities ( for LJ - fruit, soybeans, sharp cheddar cheese, grilled chicken strips and wipes - his staples).  Then, we went and at at this local Mexican restaurant - where we walked Rookie today.  They have white cheese dip, ( most others here are orange?), so we ate quickly and now we're home playing.

I know you probably don't need every detail of our day, but it helps me to rehash it and recount all that we did.    Feel free to skip to the pictures and movies, or better yet, skip a few days!  I hope your day today was as good as ours.
I've attached a video below and will add a few more pictures now as well.
Love,
Jamie

Notes to self:
P.S.  I read something that made me laugh today :  "A typical toddler travels more than 39 footbll fields per day and accumulates an average of fifteen falls per hour".  I'd say LJ is an overachiever :-D
Also : A cool line from a song : "Praise Him under open skies, everything breathing praising God" -- Heard this during my quick workout.  LJ loves being outside under an open sky, like we were when we walked Rookie today.  Maybe it's just naturally "in" us?  He behaves SO well outside - It feels so good to be outside, rather than inside four walls!
