Opening Day!

Well, today is opening day in the 2008 AAA baseball season.  It's been a wild ride so far, and I expect it will continue to be fun and crazy.  We began the Spring in Major League Training, but a week before its end, we were sent to Sarasota for minor league camp.  The short drive ( 2 hours) was easy, and we settled into the Comfort Inn there where LJ and I made our days full by swimming, playing and going to see Lance at the field.  We ate a few good meals there -- one really good sushi place by the hotel, and enjoyed our stay.  Aside from the lack of sleep - LJ had a hard time adjusting - it was a nice transition.

At Spring's end, we began the 14+ drive from Sarasota to Norfolk.  With a tentative place to live and furniture/cable being installed quickly, we soon found ourselves in our new home.  It's nice..a  gated community near the field with a playground and a pool when the summer comes.  LJ and I have even joined the local YMCA.  The drama of leaving him in childcare is huge, but with short, consistent trips, I know that he'll eventually adjust.  I'll get to have a quick work-out, and he'll come play basketball with me afterwards.  I have made a habit out of checking the basketball out and bringing it to come pick him up.  I'm hoping this will help him to associate happy times with the Y.  We'll see!
Lance began his season today, and we are so proud of him.   Through all the ups and downs, he has stayed strong, never changed who he is or his belief in himself and the Lord.  I know that is a gift straight from God, and I hope that I can contribute to it as well.  It's tough sometimes - being far from home, not knowing anyone and Lance being gone a lot, but I truly enjoy my life.  I look forward to visiting with friends and making new ones, but LJ and I are hanging tight until then.

It's bedtime now, but I'll leave you with a video of LJ at the Easter service...I may have to post one of him swimming as well.  Now that you are updated, I'll continue to write entries often to share all the blessings God has placed into our lives!
