Well, today has been a good day. LJ and I began the day with breakfast then headed to his gymboree class here. It was our first time here in Virginia, and it was great! The first time LJ went to a class like this, ( and many times after), he was affraid and spent most of the class clinging to my leg and fussing. Not this time! Today, I had the wild child! He was everywhere, and I was SO pleased. He enjoyed every part of the class, (though he was usually trying to wander off), and even remembered the motions and parts of the songs before they came up. It was hilarious.
Usually, I am fatigued after the 45 minute class because I have been pleading with LJ, convincing him I won't leave him. Today, I was tired because I was chasing him EVERYWHERE! He didn't care if I was in sight or not - he just wanted to play. I think I have the YMCA to thank for this. Their patience and loving him through his separation anxiety has allowed him to reach out, without looking back to make sure I'm there. I'm giving him one more week and then we're going to try church again. How exciting! I seriously thought I'd be watching Charles Stanley at home forever, but after another week of consistent, short, familiar childcare at the Y, I think we'll be ready to make that leap again.
After his class, we headed to the Y for a swim. We enjoyed about an hour of play time there, then headed home for lunch and showered before his nap. LJ decided that he wasn't done showering when I was. So, after I got out, he showered like a big boy until the hot water was gone. He loves water, in any form, and I think I've started something. Bath time may be o.k. before bed at night, but I think supervised showers will be his daytime bathing of choice.
The weather today was great. I love thunderstorms and warm weather, and that's what we got. When the rain settled down a bit, LJ and I took Rookie outside to play. We played on the tennis courts here - he can do what he wants there because they are falling apart and the net is already broken. So, we just enjoyed the puddles and the flowers that are planted around the complex. It was great. It would be nice to have sunny days here, but I enjoyed today's weather. I think LJ did too.
He's so funny - he makes me laugh all day. I put him in time out today for hitting the computer, ( he does stuff simply because he knows he shouldn't :) ), and he just sat there. I couldn't help hiding my face to laugh. He saw me and started laughing, too. Needless to say, that lesson was wasted, but I still laugh thinking about it. It was like he was an adult, in on a joke with me. He's head-strong, (as are his parents), but he is such a good boy. I'm so thankful for him. I miss Lance a lot, but LJ is enough to keep me busy and laughing until he comes back again.
I hope your day was great. Enjoy the pictures!
Love,
Jamie
